Lincoln Announces its 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Class

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Eight individuals have been selected to be inducted into the Lincoln Lions Athletic Hall of Fame 2015 class. The induction ceremony will take place on the campus of Lincoln University September 18, 2015 at 7:00 pm. 
 
The eight inductees include: Victor Colter '90 (track and field), Roland H. Clough '62 (wrestling), David Pendleton Gardner '60 (football, wrestling, track and field), David Hightower '87 (track and field), Shanda Jackson '07 (track and field), Cyrus Jones (head coach), Rob Knox '96 (administrator), and Mary Rotimi '07 (women's basketball).
 
This is the third class to be inducted into the hall of fame which now boosts 24 members who have made significant contributions to Lincoln University and enhanced its image and reputation. This incoming class represents more than five decades of service to Lincoln University and includes NCAA champions, All Americans, conference champions and legendary leadership.

Below is the full list of inductees, along with their Lincoln graduation year where applicable and their sports.
 
Victor Colter (1990) – Men's Track and Field
Victor Colter was a high hurdler on the Lincoln track and field team. He had his best season in 1989 when he won the 55m hurdles and 110m hurdles event at the NCAA Division III Championships.
 
Roland H. Clough (1962) - Wrestling
Roland Clough was a blind wrestler at Lincoln University that became a champion. Clough was named to the All-CIAA Wrestling Team in 1960-62 and was invited to NCAA Wrestling Championships. He served as an athletic manager while competing on the wrestling team.
 
 
David Pendleton Gardner (1960) – Football, Wrestling, and Men's Track and Field
David Pendleton Gardner was a four-year letterman in three sports at Lincoln. He played football, wrestled at 167 lbs and 177 lbs, and participated in track and field in the pole vault and as a half-miler.
 
 
David Hightower (1987) – Men's Track and Field
David Hightower was a member of the first ever Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship team at Lincoln University in 1985. He was on five NCAA Division III second place teams, was a seven-time qualifier for the Division III National Championships, and a six time All-American in the 55-meter hurdles and 110m hurdles. 
 
 
Shanda Jackson (2007) – Women's Track and Field
Shanda Jackson is a nine-time All-American that became the first female student-athlete in Lincoln's history to be featured in a Sports Illustrated magazine. She was named the 2006-07 Association of Division III Independents Female Student-Athlete of the Year while also earning recognition as the most outstanding female track athlete following the 2006 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships; winning the 100-meter dash, finishing third in the 200-meter, and helping the 4x100-meter relay team to a second place finish.
 
 
Cyrus Jones – Head Coach Men's & Women's Track and Field
Cyrus Jones served as the head coach of Lincoln University's track and field programs from 1974 to 2010. Coach Jones led Lincoln to 15 NCAA Division III track and field championships. Lincoln's men won 11 national titles (six outdoor, five indoor), and Lincoln's women won four NCAA championships (three outdoor, one indoor). Jones coached more than 300 All Americans at Lincoln and for his efforts six-times he was the recipient of the Division III National Coach of the Year award, as well as a recipient of the Mid East Region Track Coach of the Year.
 
 
Rob Knox (1996)– Sports Information Director
Rob Knox served as Lincoln's Sports Information Director from 2004-09. His hard work and love for the profession resulted in the success of promoting student athletes at Lincoln. Five Lions were featured in Sports Illustrated magazines under his watch. One student-athlete was named a finalist for the prestigious 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year Award and another was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team. Knox helped Lincoln with its transition from Division III to Division II and played a key role in the Lincoln football team being featured on NFL Films Presents in 2008.
 
 
Mary Rotimi (2007) – Women's Basketball
Mary Rotimi has the most career double-doubles as a Lady Lion with 37 totaled in her tenure at Lincoln. During her career, she averaged 12.2 points per game with 10.8 rebounds in a dominating fashion during the 2003-07 seasons. Her career totals are 814 rebounds and 921 points.
