Lincoln takes second at Delaware Invitational

NEWARK, Del.
– The Lincoln University men's indoor track & field team is off to great start in 2012 as the Lions took second at the Delaware Invitational at the University of Delaware Fieldhouse on Friday night.
 
Lincoln took second with 125 points as the United States Merchant Marine Academy won the event with 198 points. Ursinus was third with 78 points, followed by Wesley (35), Holy Family (32) and Hood (8).
 
Keith Trammell (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville HS) started things off in the shot put by capturing first place with a throw of 13.42m. Hosea Crooms (Daytona Beach, FL/Atlantic HS) was fourth in the event.
 
David Prater (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington HS) won the triple jump at 13.09m. Asaad Monroe (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle Technical HS) (7.16) edged out teammate Kevin Morgan (Providence, R.I./Hope HS) (7.23) in the 60m dash to win the event. In the 200m dash, Lincoln nearly got a clean sweep as Monroe took first in 23.20, while Mordan was third (24.24) and Desmond Bowser (Washington, DC/Archbishop Carroll HS) (24.33) placed fourth.
 
Abraham Noel (North Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale HS) and Miles Green (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) went 1-2 in the 400m dash. Noel crossed in 51.66, while Green was 51.74. Tarem Cannonier (Whiteplains, N.Y./Woodlands HS) won the 500m run in 1:07.25 and Kyle Edwards (Bloomfield, CT/Bloomfield HS) finished first in the 800m run in 2:04.41. Federico Ghelli (Rome, Italy/Liceo Mons. Tozzi) placed third in the 1,000m run in 3:00.95.
 
The 4x400m relay team of Cannonier, Green, Noel and Edwards finished first in 3:28.77.
 
Lincoln travels Saturday, Jan. 14 to New York University Invitational in New York, N.Y.
