Lincoln gets personal and season bests at Saturday Night at the Armory

NEW YORK, N.Y.
– The Lincoln University men's track & field team got personal and season bests by Tarem Cannonier (Whiteplains, N.Y./Woodlands HS), Miles Green (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and the 4x400 relay team at the Division I meet Saturday at the Armory held at the Armory Track & Field Center.
 
“The Lincoln University Lions were honored to be invited to a quality Division I Invitational in New York this weekend,” Lincoln head coach Ray Williams said. “The team goals were to run for fun and personal bests, and learn to run from the front. The following achieved this goal while running personal best and season bests: Andrea Fields (60m), Tarem Cannonier (Whiteplains, N.Y./Woodlands HS) (500m), Shannon Spaulding (400m and 200m), Miles Green (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) (400m and 200m) and men's 4x400m relay team of Cannonier, Green, Abraham Noel (North Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale HS) and Kyle Edwards (Bloomfield, CT/Bloomfield HS). In the field events, Courtney Malcolm improved on her season best in the long jump by two feet.”
 
In the men's event, Lincoln finished with one point to take 14th. Princeton won the meet with 134 points, followed by Rutgers (115), Hampton (97), Penn (59), Morgan State (52), Delaware State (51), Lafayette (32), St. Peter's (31), Lock Haven (30), TCNJ (27), Ramapo (13), Iona (12) and Fairleigh Dickinson (7).
 
In the 60m, Asaad Monroe (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle Technical HS) placed 15th in 7.16, while Kevin Mordan was tied for 19th in 7.20. Wilson Bailey (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow HS) came in 30th in 4:50.07 in the mile and Federico Ghelli (Rome, Italy/Liceo Mons. Tozzi) was 32nd in 4:59.60. Cannonier finished the 500 in 1:06.58, which was good for 11th place.
 
Ronald Evans (Philadelphia, Pa./Cheltenham HS) placed 16th in the 1,000m in 3:09.73, while Green and Noel finished 12th and 14th, respectively in the 400m in 49.81 and 49.99. Desmond Bowser (Washington, DC/Archbishop Carroll HS) was 31st in the event in 53.13. In the 800m, Edwards finished 16th in 2:00.60 and in the 200m, Green was 14th in 22:63, while Kevin Morgan (Providence, R.I./Hope HS) and Monroe were 33rd and 34th in 23:51 and 23.58.
 
David Prater (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington HS) took 24th in the long jump in 5.90m. Keith Trammell (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville HS) placed 15th in the shot put in 13.10m and Hosea Crooms (Daytona Beach, FL/Atlantic HS) was 17th in 11.4m.
 
The Lions return to action Friday, Jan. 20 at the Collegeville Invitational at Ursinus College.
