Watson retires from Lincoln

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa.  Ethel Watson retires after dedicating 25 years of her life to the sport of tennis with ten years as Lincoln University's head men's and women's tennis coach.  
 
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Watson earned her certification as a USPTR instructor in 1986. On top of her tenure as coach at Lincoln, Watson has taught the game at various private clubs while also directing community programs and tournaments. She has also participated in elementary school and summer camps.
 
Her love for tennis also extended to time as a local reporter, where she interviewed such tennis legends as the late Arthur Ashe, Martina Navratilova, Andre Agassi, Steffie Graf, Chris Evert, Michael Chang and Pam Shriver.
 
Watson graduated from Lincoln in 1983 Magna Cum Laude, ranking sixth in her class. She received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education, earning the department's Outstanding Student award. Over the last 30 years, Watson has directed day care programs and taught.
 
Over the years, Watson has also been involved with CHI National Honor Society, Home and School President, Week of the Young Child Coordinator, the Lincoln Community Center, the Southern Chester County YMCA, charity fund raisers, and as an elected official in East Nottingham Township.
