LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. (April 9, 2011) —
With Saturday's dominating performance over Virginia Union at Avon Grove High School, the Lincoln University men's tennis team secured the No. 3 seed in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championships, held later this month in Petersburg, Va.

The 7-2 win gave Lincoln the season sweep over the Panthers as their head-to-head matchups proved the difference. This squad becomes Lincoln's first in any sport to qualify for a conference championship. Each of LU's preceding teams this season received berths given to each team in the league. In men's tennis, only the top four of the Northern Division's top five teams earn a shot at the title.

Lincoln was 1-1 on the day after dropping the 8 a.m. match to Chowan University, 7-2. Senior Adedotun Osho (Plainfield, NJ/Plainfield) was an unblemished 4-0 with two wins at No. 1 singles and another pair at No. 2 doubles. Joe Brown made his debut for the Lions and was 1-1. His win came in doubles alongside Darius Gregory (Hyattsville Md./Central HS). They defeated the Haws' No. 3 team, 8-4.
