LAWRENCEVILLE, Va. (Feb. 21, 2011) — As is the case all year, Lincoln University teams compete for the first time on a full member basis in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in a multitude of sports.
The Lady Lions bowling team gain valuable experience competing in the Northern Region 3-day tournament in Franklin, Va., hosted by Chowan University
On day one of the tournament, the lady lions' faced off against Elizabeth City, Bowie State, Saint Paul, Chowan University, and Virginia Union. The Lady Lions fell in all their matches but showed that they could hang with the best of them. The team is anchored by Sarah Danaher (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union HS), as she led the team in scoring in all but one match. Danaher had a high game of 213 and averaged 159 for the day.
On day two of the tournament, the lady lions fared much better. They came out firing and collected their only win of the tournament against Virginia State University in the first match of the day. Leading the way was Danaher, with a team high 176 and not far behind with 173 was Dania McCarthy (Bronx, NY/Walton).
During day three of the tournament, the lady lions fared well in team play even though they lost all their matches. As the day went on, the team improved their pinfall totals reaching a high of 492 against Chowan, which bowled a 577.
