COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Lincoln University women's indoor track & field team opened the season on Saturday by taking fourth out at the Ursinus College Bow-Tie Track Classic.
The Lady Lions garnered 32 points in the Division I and II Division. Coppin State won the meet with 171 points, followed by Bowie State (125) and Delaware State (85). Cheyney was fourth with 22 points and Holy Family rounded out the scoring with five points.
Lincoln did most of the damage in the 200 as
Andrea Fields (Clinton, MD/Surrattsville HS),
Alexis Cubbage (North Plainfield, NJ/Union Catholic HS) and
Shannon Spaulding (Stamford, CT/Westhill HS) went 6, 7 and 8 to claim a total of 12 points. In the 400, Cubbage placed third in 1:02.29 and Spaulding was eighth (1:03.49).
Kaydee-Ann White (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus HS) captured eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:56.47.
The Lady Lions “A” Team – Fields, Cubbage,
Shana Brown (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and
Courtney Malcolm (Rochester, N.Y./School of the Arts) - was second in the 4x400 relay in 4:13.50. Malcolm finished fourth in the long jump at 4.96 meters.
Lincoln will enjoy a nice break off before getting back to action as the Lady Lions will participate in the University of Delaware Invitational on Jan. 6 in Newark, Del.
