LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — The 2010 football season begins with the biggest of rivals.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sep. 5 at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Lincoln University and Cheyney University open the year with the Battle of the Firsts when the Chester County HBCU rivals determine gridiron bragging rights.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students in the second-annual contest since LU brought back the football program in the 2008 season. Student tickets can be purchased prior to the game at each university or at the ticket booths on the day of the game. A valid student ID is required. Adult tickets are available on EZ-Tixx.com. Lion season ticket packages are available, which include the game versus Cheyney as well as:

Sep. 25 Saint Augustine's College   West Grove, Pa.   1 p.m.
Oct. 2   Howard University (Division I-AA)  Washington, D.C.  1 p.m.
Oct. 30 Saint Paul's College  West Grove, Pa.  1 p.m.

The Lions are 9-0-1 all-time against the Wolves in a rivalry dating back to a 20-13 Lincoln victory in 1934. Last year, in the first meeting since 1936, the orange and blue overcame a first-quarter deficit to preserve tradition in a 41-20 victory at Northeast.

In the weeks leading up to latest installment of one of black college's biggest rivalries, this page can be used for all information pertaining to that game.
