Lincoln Concludes Season with Four Wins

DOVER, Del. — Lincoln University ended its season with four wins at the Delaware State Invitational Saturday with the men taking fourth place as a team and the women fifth.

Fresh off a great showing at the Penn Relays last weekend, the women's 4x400-meter relay team won a thrilling race against host DSU. Esha Wanamaker (Wilmington, DE, Glasgow), Keishana LaRose (Brooklyn, NY), Kristina Rembert (Bronx, NY, Cathedral), and Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA, Northeast), ran a 3:48.41, holding off the Lady Hornets by one hundredth of a second.

The other events were not without their drama. Morgan Heath (Philadelphia, PA) recorded a personal best 1.67 meters in the high jump, besting a pair of Division I athletes that cleared 1.62 meters.

Bienna Freeman (Christiana, DE, Christiana) claimed the 1500 meters by nearly nine seconds with a 4:45.86, a feat even more impressive considering she specializes in the 800 meters.

In the finals 100 meters, Rushane Scott (Allentown, PA, William Allen) wowed the competition with a 10.58, improving his time from the preliminaries by .22 seconds. Cyrus Welsey from Zenith Velocity was second at 10.79. Lincoln's Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA, Martin Luther King), running unattached this outdoor season, was right behind at 10.80.

Also notable was Lincoln alum and current assistant coach Bobby Young in the 400. He ran a 47.20 in the 400 for first. The top current LU finisher was Matthew Coston (Brooklyn, NY, Dover) in third at 48.65.
