NEW YORK, N.Y. —
Behind several strong finishes from the sprinters, the Lincoln University track and field head coach Cyrus Jones was pleased with the team’s performance.

Competing Friday and Saturday at famed Armory track at the New Balance Invitational, the Lady Lions faced elite competition from coast to coast.

Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA, Northeast) highlighted the first day of competition.  She ran a 57.88 200-meter dash in the finals for 19th place. Florida International’s Lakeisha Kelley 24.84 won the race. For LU, Esha Wannamaker and Kristina Rembert (Bronx, NY, Cathedral)were 29th and 36th with times of 58.41 and 58.85, respectively. There were 78 runners in the 11-heat field.

Saturday, the Lady Lions built off that momentum with Heath Morgan leading off. In the high jump, she placed third by clearing 1.60 meters.

Bienna Freeman improved on last week’s time of 2:16.74 in the 800 at the Thomson Invitational with a 2:15.52 for 12th.

Next week, Lincon returns to the Armory for the second of three consecutive visits to the venue to participate in the Rider-Lafayette Invitational.
