4x400, Freeman crush competition at Thomson Invite

Results

NEWARK, Del.
 — For the second time this season, freshman Bienna Freeman won the 800 meters and did so easily at the Thomson Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware Saturday.

She lamented that this was not her best time of the year, but the competition was even more frustrated. Freeman ran a 2:16.74, obliterating the field as the runner-up in the Division II and III field ran a 2:29.23. She also would've won the Division I race claimed by Dashera Richardson of Delaware State (2:22.11).

Competing alongside Freeman was Keishana LaRose, who finished fourth (2:30.99).

Freeman also catapulted Lincoln from a fourth-place showing to first in the 4x400-meter relay from her anchor position. Taking the baton from Larose, she inherited quite a hole but in her two laps, she made up tremendous ground as LU finished in 4:01.63. Running the first two legs were Kristina Rembert (Bronx, NY, Cathedral) and Esha Wannamaker. East Stroudsburg was second with a 4:07.78.

The Lady Lions finished sixth of 12 schools competing with 48 points. East Stroudsburg won the Division II and III team title with 143.50 points.

A typical LU Saturday, a number of individuals stood out.

Courtney Malcolm finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 4.82, while Tynisha Sewell (Baltimore, MD/Parkville) was 10th by leaping 4.72 meters.

Wanamaker,Rembert and Stephanie Anderson (Coatesville, PA, Coatesville) dominated the 400-meters. Wanaker and Rember placed second and third at 1:00.14 and 1:00.71 respectively, while Stephanie Anderson (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) won her heat for ninth overall at 1:05.07.

Laniqua Dinkins, LU's lone thrower, took 17th in the shot put with a throw of 9.04 meters.
