LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — Despite a frigid, rainy, and windy afternoon at Lions field, the Lady Lions (5-8) gave their senior teammates a last home game to remember on Senior Day. Stephanie Anderson (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area HS)
(Philadelphia, Pa.), led the way with a hat trick and then some, scoring four goals in Lincoln's 5-3 win over Medgar Evers College.
The fifth win sets a new bar for a rapidly improving women's soccer program, besting the previous high of four wins set last year.
After posting 14 shots in their previous win against Monroe College, Lincoln did even better with 23. After a tie game at one apiece in the first half, the Lady Lions went on a scoring onslaught in the second, led by Anderson. Shaynita Blanchard (Washington, D.C./Archbishop Carroll) (Washington, D.C.) scored off a pick and the game was in hand.
The win is the second straight for the Lady Lions. They will look to make it three as they visit Gallaudet University on Saturday, October 24. Lincoln's final three games are on the road. Saturday's emotional victory was a much deserved reward for Jones, Leslie Jefferson (Harve De Grace, MD), Danisha Anderson (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) (Coatsville, Pa.), Nicole Young (Brooklyn, NY/Meade Senior High) (Brooklyn, NY), Collene Cumberbatch (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway ) (Piscataway, N.J.), and Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/CH Flowers)
