Chestnut Hill defeats Lincoln in softball action

PHILADELPHIA, PA. (April 14, 2008) – DeJuana Mosley had the only hit for the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball during a pair of losses to Chestnut Hill College Monday afternoon.

Mosley singled during the fourth inning of Lincoln’s 24-0 defeat (BOXSCORE) in the opening game. Lincoln also lost the second game, 22-0 (BOXSCORE). This was the first meeting in school history between Lincoln and Chestnut Hill in softball. Chestnut Hill improved its record to 9-26 with the victories.

Lincoln returns to action Thursday afternoon when it plays Penn State-Abington in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Athletes of the Week

Bryant Leach

Men's Basketball

Leach averaged 15.0 points and 11.5 rebounds during a 2-0 week for the men's basketball team. Leach recorded double-doubles against Holy Family (14 points, 13 rebounds) and Shaw (16 points, 10 rebounds). In the victory over Shaw, Lincoln ended a 19-game losing streak against CIAA Opponents and defeated a CIAA foe for the first time since 1998.

Tanina Cook

Women's Basketball

Cook scored her 600th career point against Kutztown and grabbed her 500th career rebound against Shaw. In two games last week, Cook averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds. She also had a team-high five steals. Cook scored a team-high 16 points against 25th-ranked Shaw and 10 points against Kutztown. Lincoln competes in the West Chester Alumni Classic this weekend against West Chester (Dec. 5 at 8:00 pm) and Millersville (Dec. 6 at 2:00 pm).
