The team marched and handed out candy to the children attending. The biggest hit by far was the appearance of the school mascot. The Lincoln Lion gave out hugs and hi-fives to the delight of many children.
“We had to stop many times along the parade route because children and adults wanted to pose for pictures with our mascot” said Coach Chris Cummings. “I think it was a big hit and I think the team had just as much fun as the crowd did. Alisa Davis did a great job in the mascot costume”
Besides extending good will to the local community it helped to promote the fledgling program which is entering its second year as a varsity sport.
The Lincoln softball team begins its season with a home doubleheader against Columbia Union College on March 1, 2009 starting at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Lions will play their home games at the Oxford Athletics Association.
