Student-Athletes honored at academic luncheon

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (November 5, 2008) - The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Athletics Department held its Third Annual Academic Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday November 5, 2008 in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Student Union Building. (VIEW PHOTO GALLERY)
 
The academic luncheon honored student-athletes who completed the semester with cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. There were 60 student-athletes honored from 11 sports.
 
Among the students honored were senior baseball player Joe Kruemmer who was among the top 10 in the weekly national NCAA statistical leaders in batting average and on-base percentages. Kruemmer led the Lions with 32 hits last season and finished with the highest batting average.
 
“It means a lot to know that the University cares about the effort we as student-athletes put into our school work,” said Kruemmer.
 
Sophomore women's basketball player DeJuana Mosley was also among those student-athletes honored. Mosley finished last season as the Lady Lions leading scorer with 13.7 points per game. She was the second straight freshman and fourth in five years to lead Lincoln in scoring.
 
“It felt good to know there were so many athletes with good GPAs,” said Mosley. "It's so nice to know so many faculty members care about us as students and as athletes. I really enjoyed myself and look forward to doing this again next year.”
 
The students honored were Percy Bullock, Omar Glinton, Kruemmer and Melvin Robinson from the baseball team. Women's basketball honorees were Sasha Evans, Chanelle Harris, Keonie Morrisey and Mosley. Alicia Beach, Shakia Blake, Tracey Coleman, Andrea Dennis, Shayla Dowdy, Angel Ferris, Brittany Harry, Crislove Igeleke, Toussaint Jordan, Amber Newton, Alysha Poles and Donielle Turner from the cheerleading squad.
 
From the women's track and field team Kristina Rembert, Christiana Sansculotte and Nicole Young. Men's track and field honorees included Davon Goldburough, Jamir Kirby, Todd Mason Jr., Andre Wilkinson and Len'l Russell. From the football team Myles Fleming, Dejurne McCall-Prince, Ronald Love, Gerald Foster and Justin James. Men's soccer honorees included Oluwaseye Adekanye, Kirk Bishop, Marc-Eric Kouadio, Joseph Forde, Theon Francis, Jerrell Hooker, Kareem Morancie-Leid, Stephen Sangster, Andre Wilkinson and Yannick Goue. Women's soccer honorees included Adaeze Chikwem, Collene Cumberbatch, Leslie Jefferson, Joy Floyd and Natalya Konstantinova.
 
The softball team honored Alisa Davis, Sasha Evans, Stephanie Gibson, Sherrell Harwell, Chanelle Harris, and Dejuana Mosley. The tennis team honored Sherrell Harwell, Osho Adedotun, Anthony Fluellen, Alfayo Michira and Stephen Sangster. Lindsey Wilson was also honored form the volleyball team.
